The highway department has been and will always be there at all times to ensure the safest possible roadways to travel upon. What makes this happen is the close relationship we have with the Men and Women of our Carmel PD, as well as the Sheriff’s Department. They are our eyes on the roads when the highway is not open, and we are their first responders during emergencies to ensure they can respond in a timely fashion. This also goes for our local Fire Departments, EMT’s, and Ambulance services. The relationship between all of these agencies is critical, and we will always work our hardest at keeping the relationship as strong as possible to keep our residents safe. I believe my endorsement from the Lieutenant's Benevolent Association speaks for itself in displaying the trust and working relationship that we have already formed.
I have already met with the surrounding town's departments - both highway & recycling - to tour their facilities, and spoken with local landowners and government officials regarding implementing the necessary procedures here to get this project rolling. I look forward to working with our elected Town and County officials to bring this to fruition.
We live in a beautiful community. I find it crucial to aid in the upkeep by trimming back roadways, keeping intersections trimmed and visible, and cleaning debris from the road edges.
I plan to develop a road grading system to build our road infrastructure from the ground up. This will inform and educate our residents of their road condition, drainage needs, and ultimately, re-surfacing the roads that are deteriorating. For the last 10 years, I have worked alongside a great team implementing new drainage, eliminating as many easements as possible through resident's properties, and ultimately, having new and beautiful roadways. These projects take a lot of planning and hard work, and this direct knowledge and leadership I have in these areas is what separates me from my opponent.
With the rising cost of highway vehicles and parts, coupled with supply chain issues, keeping our fleet free of salt is a major issue that faces ALL highway departments. Extending the life of our vehicles by keeping them as clean as possible will save the taxpayers a lot of money and will help keep our highway budget as low as possible.
The residents of Carmel need better communication and information provided to them. Through the use of social media, I would like to keep the residents updated regularly regarding all highway work. Live updates of snow removal, upcoming projects, and keeping our community informed during emergency situations will only be a click or phone call away.
Good morning! Today I received a phone call from Gerard Ahler, who graciously conceded from the Town of Carmel Highway Superintendent race. He wished me well as the next Highway Superintendent. I am very pleased to officially be your next Town of Carmel Highway Superintendent, and look forward to serving the residents of our great town. It truly took a community to make this happen, and I am very thankful to each and everyone who came out to let their voice be heard. Now let’s get to work!!
