When he's not working towards the betterment of his hometown with the Highway Department, Mike finds other ways to contribute to the community he loves so dearly. He is the co-founder and director of the Mahopac Wolves, an independent non-profit youth sports organization, whose mission statement is to increase accessibility to little league baseball, by removing obstacles such as the strict eligibility requirements, travel and schedule demands, and prohibitive costs associated with many other organizations. He has also served as a volunteer coach for the Wolves since the organization's inception in 2019.
As a cancer survivor himself, Relay For Life is a cause that is deeply personal and meaningful to Mike. In 2013, following his own triumph over Hodgkin's lymphoma, he was named the Honorary Chair of that year's Relay For Life event. Since then, he and his family have helped raise over $300,000 for cancer research, and founded Mahopac's annual "Paint The Town Purple Day", which rallies the local residents and business community in the weeks leading up to Relay For Life.
Good morning! Today I received a phone call from Gerard Ahler, who graciously conceded from the Town of Carmel Highway Superintendent race. He wished me well as the next Highway Superintendent. I am very pleased to officially be your next Town of Carmel Highway Superintendent, and look forward to serving the residents of our great town. It truly took a community to make this happen, and I am very thankful to each and everyone who came out to let their voice be heard. Now let’s get to work!!
